Hand-blackened and waxed. A deep, soft black.
Weathering steel that rusts to a living, earthen patina.
The mill surface, sealed. Scratches, marks and all.
Coloured Finishes
A fine satin graphite. Even, matte and modern.
A warm satin white, baked on. Crisp and architectural.
A deep warm bronze-brown. Rich and architectural.
Powder-coated or wet-sprayed to any colour you choose, including custom-mixed shades.
Powder-coat and wet paint systems are both available, applied over a zinc-rich primer. Choose a colour from the Dulux or Resene ranges, or give us a completely custom colour to match.

We design and hand-make bespoke metalwork, from fire tables and outdoor fireplaces to laser-cut steel screens, steel pergolas, staircases, gates, interior steel doors and sculptural steel, for architectural homes across Canterbury, Otago, Queenstown, Wānaka and the wider South Island. We also design commercial steel and steel facades, feature staircases, cladding, canopies and fitouts, for retail, hospitality and multi-unit projects. Every piece is engineered, hand-finished and made to order. We also work directly with architects and designers, fabricating bespoke steel to their drawings.
ARC is based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Everything is designed and made in our Christchurch workshop, with regular projects across Christchurch and Canterbury, Queenstown, Wānaka and Central Otago, and Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough, and we deliver nationwide, including the North Island.

Yes. We make interior steel doors and steel-framed glazed doors in the Crittall style, pivot, hinged and sliding, finished in any colour by powder-coat or wet-spray, to your architect’s or your own design.
Yes. ARC designs and fabricates commercial steel, feature staircases, steel facades and cladding, canopies, screens, fitouts and balustrades, for retail, hospitality and multi-unit projects across the South Island.
Yes. ARC is based in Christchurch and everything is designed and made here. We deliver across Christchurch and Canterbury, to Queenstown, Wānaka and Central Otago, to Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough, and nationwide. Installation is by your builder or one of the trusted subcontractors we work with.
Our workshop isn't open to visitors, but we're opening a Christchurch showroom in 2027. Until then we're happy to send finish samples and photos of finished work, and talk through your project by phone or video. Call 021 072 0441.
Yes. Much of our work is designed with architects and interior designers. We work from your drawings, supply shop drawings for sign-off, and coordinate delivery and installation with the builder.
Send us your plans, opening sizes or a brief through the enquiry page and we will come back with an indicative price and timeframe. Every piece is made to order, so pricing follows the design, size and finish.
Yes. We supply steel doors, staircases, gates, screens, pergolas and fire tables to Nelson, Richmond, Motueka, Blenheim, Picton and the wider Tasman and Marlborough regions, delivered to site. The same goes for Christchurch and Canterbury, Queenstown and Wānaka, and anywhere else in New Zealand.
Yes. Every piece can be finished in a colour from the Dulux or Resene ranges, or in a completely custom colour. We use both powder-coat and wet paint systems over a zinc-rich primer, and choose the right one for the piece, so hardware and handles can be colour-matched too.
Both. Powder-coat and wet paint systems are available, each applied over a zinc-rich primer on blasted steel. We choose the system to suit the piece, its size and where it will live, and talk it through with you at the drawing stage.
Yes. Alongside Christchurch and Canterbury, many of our steel doors, staircases, fire tables, screens and pergolas go to homes in Queenstown, Wānaka, Arrowtown and Central Otago, made in Christchurch and delivered to site.
