Sculptural steel staircases. Floating treads, folded plate and fine steel balustrades, engineered to disappear into the architecture. We make the steel structure and balustrade; timber treads are fitted by your builder.

A welded steel structure with under-tread lighting and a fine steel-rod balustrade to the open side, ready for your builder's timber treads.

A single folded steel plate, treads and risers in one line, with a fine rod balustrade. Finished in any colour.

Oak treads on a slim powder-coated steel spine, with a frameless glass balustrade for an uninterrupted line.

Floor-to-ceiling steel rods drawn to a minimal sightline, a screen that guards the void and filters the light.
We design and build bespoke steel staircases, floating treads, folded plate and single-spine stairs, with fine steel-rod balustrades. We supply the steel structure and balustrade only; timber treads are supplied and fitted by your builder. Every stair is engineered to the New Zealand Building Code (including F4 barrier requirements) and made to order in Christchurch for homes across Canterbury, Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough, Queenstown, Wānaka and Central Otago, with delivery nationwide.
Floating cantilevered treads stairs, and single-spine (mono-stringer) staircases, with fine steel-rod balustrades. We make the steel structure and balustrade; timber treads are supplied and installed by your builder.
Yes. Every stair is designed to the NZ Building Code, including F4 fall-protection and barrier requirements. Your engineer designs the structure and provides the PS1 design producer statement, and we fabricate to that design and provide the PS3 construction producer statement.
A new staircase is normally part of the building consent for a new home or renovation, and your designer or council can confirm what applies to your project. Your engineer provides the PS1 for the design, and we provide the PS3 for the steelwork we fabricate.
Every stair is designed for its space, so the price depends on the stair type, the number of treads, the balustrade, the finish and how the stair is supported. Send us your plans and we will give you a quote.
Often, yes. Cantilevered floating treads need a strong fixing, either a reinforced wall or a concealed steel stringer, so the existing structure needs to be checked by your engineer first. A spine or stair is often an easier retrofit because it carries its own load.
A spine (mono-stringer) stair runs on a single central steel beam, with each tread supported off it. The result is a very open, minimal stair that looks like it floats, without relying on a wall for support.
Powder coat or paint in any colour. Black and white are popular, and we have made stairs in olive green to suit a timber-rich interior, like our Mt Pleasant circular stair. Treads are usually timber, supplied and fitted by your builder.
Yes. See our floating circular staircase in Mt Pleasant and our floating-tread stair in Cass Bay, both in Christchurch.
Every stair is made to order, so timing depends on the design and our workshop schedule. We will give you a timeframe with your quote. Talk to us early in your build so the stair is ready when your builder needs it.
