Yes. Every ARC gate can be fully automated. We design and build the gate to suit a swing or sliding motor, and the installing subcontractor fits and connects the automation, including the motor, controls and safety sensors, so it is ready to use.

Remote controls, keypad entry, phone-app control, and vehicle loop or sensor opening. Swing gates use arm or underground motors; sliding gates run on a track with a rack-and-pinion motor. We will recommend the right system for your driveway, gate weight and how you want to use it.

Yes, a mains power supply to the gate motor, usually run by your electrician. Solar-powered options are available for rural sites without nearby power. We provide the power and cabling requirements so your electrician has everything they need before installation.

Yes. Steel gates are heavier than aluminium, so we specify motors rated for the gate's weight and size, with hinges, posts and tracks engineered to carry it smoothly for decades. Getting the structure right is what makes the automation reliable.

We design and make the gate, but we don't install it ourselves. We work with a range of trusted subcontractors across Christchurch and Canterbury who install our gates and handle the automation, and we coordinate them for you, or your own builder can fit it. Beyond Canterbury we deliver to site and work with your builder or installer.

A bespoke gate typically takes several weeks from approved drawings, depending on design, finish and whether it is automated. We give you a timeframe with your quote, and it pays to talk to us early in your build so the gate is ready when your fencing and driveway are.

Sliding gates suit sloping or short driveways and wide openings, because they need no swing clearance. Swing gates suit level sites with room behind the gate line and give the classic double-leaf look. We recommend one based on your driveway, gate weight and how you want to use it.

Usually not for a residential gate and fence under 2.5 metres, but automated gates must meet safety standards for pinch points and sensors, and some districts have rules on height and setback. We design to meet these, and your installer confirms local requirements.
